The concept of team building
Team building appeared in the United States in the 1980s. Team building, or team strengthening, is a true management tool. The days when individualism reigned in a company are long gone; nowadays, teamwork is emphasized. But working as a team is not always easy; between the various personalities and other divergences, team performance can be undermined, and we quickly understand the importance of implementing a strategy to address these potential problems. Many companies, including Google, have understood that the relationships between its employees are a pillar of performance at work.
Team building therefore meets several objectives. One of them, seen above, is the improvement of communication between employees. Communication is an essential point in good management. If good communication between managers and their employees is essential, so is communication between the latter. Excellent communication often leads to a relationship of trust and thus to a better understanding between teams, which translates into an improvement in their performance at work.
Team building activities are of all kinds. One of the latest activities in vogue is the escape game. The escape game is a game where a team must work together to solve a puzzle in order to escape from a room in a given time.
More conventional team building activities such as cultural or sports outings bring your employees together around an enriching activity and also allow them to share moments outside the company that are not related to work.
